Local Guide

Some moments change how you remember a place. Skydiving over Interlaken begins with a quiet scenic flight, drifting above Lake Thun and Lake Brienz as the Alps slowly unfold beneath you. Then comes the moment. You step out into the sky — a leap from around 4,000 meters (13 000ft), falling into about 45 seconds of pure freefall, the wind rushing, the world opening, adrenaline and freedom blending into one unforgettable sensation. The parachute opens, the noise fades, and the mountains draw closer. You glide peacefully for a few minutes under canopy, with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau rising all around you. A powerful contrast of intensity and calm — an experience you don’t just see, but feel.

A skydive with Outdoor is action from the first minute. The shuttle picks up the group in Interlaken and drives 20 to 25 minutes along Lake Thun into the Kandertal, paperwork done on the way. At the Reichenbach dropzone you get your jumpsuit and a briefing: how the exit works, the freefall position, and what to do for landing. Then the plane climbs for about 15 minutes over the peaks and the two lakes. Red light, get ready. Yellow, the door opens. Green, you slide forward and drop. 45 seconds of freefall at 180 km/h. The canopy opens, the noise stops, and for about five minutes you float over the valley while your tandem master lets you steer a few turns. You land on the field in front of the hangar, catch your breath, and the shuttle brings you back to Interlaken. Book the photo or video package at check-in if you want proof: the handcam films from your instructor's wrist, the camera flyer jumps beside you.

- One tandem instructor per guest — your instructor stays connected to you from take-off to landing, ensuring maximum safety and comfort. - Handcam video is filmed from the tandem instructor’s wrist — perfect for close-up reactions and amazing views of the Alps. - Outside camera video (when available) is filmed by a second instructor — the best option if you want cinematic, dynamic footage of your skydive. - Decide on your photo / video package before check-in so we can make sure every moment is captured. - The airfield and drop zone are in Reichenbach, about 30 minutes from Interlaken. - Bus seats are reserved for jumpers only. Spectators must make their own way to the airfield. - You can also drive yourself — there is free parking on site, ideal if someone is accompanying you. - Dress comfortably and for the weather. It’s significantly colder at 4,000 m than in Interlaken. - Lockers are available on site to store valuables safely.
Your jump runs with Outdoor, one of the biggest adventure operators in the Bernese Oberland. They fly tandems from their own dropzone in Reichenbach im Kandertal, with licensed tandem masters and a strict rulebook on weight, height and age, because from 4,000 metres you want the rules strict. We resell their airplane skydive because it is the one we would book ourselves: up to 8 tandems on one plane so your whole group jumps together, two fixed departures a day, and a shuttle that handles the logistics while you think about the door opening.
*Do I need experience? No. Your tandem master handles everything; the briefing covers the exit, the freefall position and the landing. *How high and how long? You jump from 4,000 metres: about 45 seconds of freefall at 180 km/h, then around five minutes under the canopy. *Are the limits strict? Yes, with no exceptions: 40 to 105 kg weighed ready to jump, minimum 140 cm, minimum age 12. Under 18 needs a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. *Can my friends watch? Yes, from the dropzone in Reichenbach. Spectators make their own way there; parking is free. *Can I bring my own camera? No. Photo and video packages are chosen on the spot, filmed by your instructor or a second camera flyer. *What if the weather turns? The final call often comes on the day. If your jump can't go ahead, you rebook or get a full refund.
