Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data VP Activities GmbH ("Swiss Local Adventures", "we") collects when you visit this website or book with us, why we collect it, who receives it and what rights you have. We follow the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to you, we follow it as well.

1. Who is responsible

VP Activities GmbH, Hauptstrasse 172, 3852 Ringgenberg BE, Switzerland
Email: contact@swisslocaladventures.ch, phone: +41 76 721 14 43

For any question about your data, write to us at this address.

2. What we collect and why

When you book on this website
Name, gender, email, phone number, country, number of participants, date, activity, and any special requests you give us, such as dietary needs or children's ages. We use this data to confirm and run your booking, to reach you about it (for example when weather changes the plan), and to keep our accounts.
Legal basis under the GDPR: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

Health and safety information you give us
If you tell us about allergies, pregnancy, a medical condition, your weight or reduced mobility, we use it only to run your activity safely. We share it only with the guide or operator who needs it. Under the GDPR we rely on your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)).

Children
Parents or adults book for children and give us their ages. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 16.

Payments
Stripe processes card payments. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe receives your name, email and payment details.

When you contact us
If you write to us by email, WhatsApp or a form on this website, we use your message and contact details to answer you.
Legal basis under the GDPR: our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f)), or steps before a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).

Plan My Day and our digital assistant
Our trip planner, Plan My Day, and any chat assistant on this website use your answers to suggest a plan: for example your dates, the size and ages of your group, your interests, your budget, where you stay and any mobility needs. An artificial intelligence (AI) service processes these answers for us to build the suggestions. Please do not enter health details or other sensitive information beyond what the plan needs. We choose AI providers that do not use your answers to train their models. If you give us your email, we use it to send you your plan, and we send you other emails only if you subscribe. The plan only suggests: you decide what to book.
Legal basis under the GDPR: steps you request before a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)), or our legitimate interest in offering the planner (Art. 6(1)(f)).

After your activity
We may send you one message after your activity to ask for a review. You can tell us at any time that you do not want such messages.
Legal basis under the GDPR: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Emails with news and offers
If you subscribe, we send you emails about our activities, offers and tips for your trip. Each email has a link to unsubscribe. We may use a newsletter provider to send them (see section 5).
Legal basis under the GDPR: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).

Photos and videos during tours
On some tours our guides take photos and videos and send them to you. We publish a photo or video in which someone can be recognised only with that person's agreement. Tell the guide if you prefer not to be photographed. We keep the files for up to 2 years, unless you agreed that we may publish them.

When you book through another platform
If you book through GetYourGuide, Viator, Tripadvisor or another platform, that platform sends us the data we need to run your activity. The platform's own privacy policy applies to the booking itself.

Our pages on social networks and forums
We have accounts on social networks, forums and review sites, for example Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, Tripadvisor and Google (reviews on Google Maps). When you follow us, comment, review or message us there, we see what you make public and what you send us, and we use it to answer you. The platform decides how it processes your data and its privacy policy applies. For our Instagram account, Meta and we share responsibility for account statistics; Meta handles your rights requests for that data. We do not copy your data from these platforms into our own files, except a message you send us about a booking.

When you visit the website
Our hosting provider records technical data for security and operation: IP address, date and time, pages visited and browser type. With your consent, we also measure how visitors use the website (see section 3).

Our Pinterest app
We use our own app, "SLA Pin Publisher", with the Pinterest API only to publish Pins from this website to our own Pinterest business account and to read that account's statistics. The app does not sign in other Pinterest users and does not collect, store or share any data about them. We keep its access token on our own computer and never share it.

3. Cookies, analytics, advertising and maps

We use cookies and similar technologies in four groups:

  • Necessary: language choice and your cookie choice. These are always on.
  • Statistics: Google Analytics 4, only if you accept.
  • Marketing: advertising tools such as Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, Microsoft Advertising, Pinterest and Reddit, only if you accept.
  • External media: maps (Google Maps, Stay22), videos (YouTube) and review widgets (for example Google or Tripadvisor) on some pages, only if you accept or click to load them.

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or refuse each optional group. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. The full list of cookies is in our Cookie Policy.

Google Analytics 4. If you accept, Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC process data about your visit for us: pages viewed, time on page, device type, approximate location (country or city) and how you reached the website. We use it to see which pages help visitors and which need work. If you also accept marketing, Google may use this data to measure our ads and show them to people likely to be interested. Google may transfer this data to the USA (see section 6). We keep analytics data for 14 months.
Legal basis under the GDPR: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

Advertising. If you accept marketing, the advertising tools listed above set cookies or similar identifiers. They tell us which ads lead to a visit or a booking, and let us show our ads to people who visited our website or who resemble them. The advertising provider receives your IP address, device data, the pages you visit and, for a booking, its value. Some providers combine this with what they already know about you from your account with them, under their own responsibility. If you refuse, no advertising tool loads. Our banner treats a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a refusal of marketing.
Legal basis under the GDPR: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

Performance measurement. Our hosting provider Vercel measures page loading speed (Vercel Speed Insights). This tool sets no cookies and does not identify you.

Maps. To show you a map, your browser loads map images from outside providers, which receive your IP address to deliver them and set no cookies on our website:

  • the maps on our activity pages: OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation, United Kingdom);
  • our regional map at /map: swisstopo (Swiss Federal Office of Topography), OpenFreeMap and Mapterhorn, delivered through the Cloudflare and Amazon CloudFront networks.

Google Maps, the Stay22 map, YouTube videos and review widgets load only after you agree or click. Their provider then receives your IP address and may set cookies under its own policy, for Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Payment page. When you pay, Stripe may set cookies it needs to process your payment securely and prevent fraud.

4. Links to other booking sites (affiliate links)

Some links on this website take you to other sites where you can book activities or accommodation, for example GetYourGuide, Booking.com or Stay22. If you book there, we may earn a commission. You pay the same price. The link tells that site that you came from us; we do not receive your name, payment or booking details from it, only a total of commissions earned. Once you are on that site, its own terms, privacy policy and cookies apply.

5. Who receives your data

We share your data only with providers who help us run our business, and only as far as they need it:

Providers of the services you book. We give the provider of each service you book through us the data it needs to deliver it: the farm or winery on our tours, the operator of a partner activity (for example skydiving or paragliding), a transport company, an event organiser or an accommodation provider. This means your name, the number of participants, the date and your phone number or email and, where safety or the ticket requires it, age, weight or health details you gave us. That provider then handles your data under its own privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data for advertising only through the marketing cookies you accept.

6. Transfers outside Switzerland and the EU

Some providers above process data outside Switzerland and the EU, for example in the USA, the United Kingdom or Canada. Where Switzerland or the EU recognises a country as offering adequate protection, we rely on that decision. For other countries, we rely on the provider's certification under the Swiss-US and EU-US Data Privacy Framework, on the standard contractual clauses approved by the Swiss and EU authorities, or on equivalent safeguards.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Booking and payment records: 10 years, as Swiss accounting law requires (Art. 958f CO).
  • Photos and videos: up to 2 years, or as long as you allowed us to publish them.
  • Emails and messages: as long as we need them to answer you, then deleted within 2 years unless they belong to a booking.
  • Analytics data: 14 months.
  • Plan My Day and assistant answers: 12 months, unless they lead to a booking.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Advertising cookies: see our Cookie Policy.
  • Server logs: only as long as our hosting provider needs them for security and operation.

8. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • tell you what data we hold about you and send you a copy,
  • correct inaccurate data,
  • delete your data, unless the law requires us to keep it,
  • withdraw your consent, or object to processing based on our legitimate interest,
  • send you your data in a common electronic format.

Write to contact@swisslocaladventures.ch. We answer within 30 days.

If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, you have the same rights here. We do not sell your personal information. If you accept marketing cookies, some of our advertising may count as "sharing" under those laws. You can refuse or withdraw it at any time with "Cookie settings", and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a refusal.

You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, https://www.edoeb.admin.ch) or, if you live in the EU, to your national data protection authority.

We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone. Plan My Day uses your answers, and advertising tools use your browsing, to suggest activities or show you ads. The law calls this profiling. You choose whether to use Plan My Day, and you can refuse marketing cookies at any time.

9. Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), access limited to the people who need it, and providers that meet recognised security standards.

10. Changes

We update this policy when our website or our services change. The date at the top shows the current version.
